The Christkind was introduced to the market in 1969. Over the years, it moved locations several times and was faced with its share of challenges, but it soldiered on. It was first recorded in 1530 in the letters of William Pirckheimer, a Nuremberg Town Council member and humanist. It kicks off just after Thanksgiving and ends just before Christmas. The traditional red and white roofed stalls will be located on the Main Market Square with the Rathausplatz and the Schmuckhoff, Jakobsplatz, Lorenzer Platz and on the Insel Schutt.
